São Paulo, Brazil, Oct 27 (EFE) – Ricardo Nunes, the mayor of São Paulo, Brazil's largest city, was re-elected Sunday in the nation’s most significant municipal election, securing 59.49% of the vote against left-wing candidate Guilherme Boulos, who received 40.51%.
Nunes, representing the center-right Brazilian Democratic Movement (MDB), won by a margin of over one million votes, as confirmed by the Supreme Electoral Tribunal with over 95% of votes counted.
This decisive victory cements Nunes' leadership in São Paulo, a role he has held for nearly three and a half years since taking office following the 2021 passing of Mayor Bruno Covas due to cancer.
The result also offers a boost to former far-right President Jair Bolsonaro (2019-2022), who, though subtly, had shown support for the mayor. Read More ...... Click here
